We both work part time at Next many years ago!

WHERE DID YOU GO ON YOUR FIRST DATE? HOW DID IT GO!?

We never really had a first day, there was a big build up to our first Christmas party where we thought we would get together. Unfortunately we both got drunk and it ended up being a bit of a disaster! We got together a week later than planned lol!

WHERE, HOW AND AFTER HOW LONG DID HE/SHE PROPOSE?

5 years after dating we went on holiday to Mexico. On the first day Jake insisted we go to the beach. Once there he said he’d race me to the sea edge, although Jake is the athletic one of the two of us, I though I stood a chance and legged it. I turned round to relish in my victory and Jake was still at the sunbed. I looked out to see and Jake came behind me and said “it’s beautiful isn’t it Lau, you know what would make it better?” thinking there was nothing that could make this moment any better I turned around to Jake on bended knee with an engagement ring in his hand! (It then made sense why this was the only time he had ever carried the beach bag.) I snatched the ring before he had chance to change his mind and then asked him to repeat what he had said as everything was a blur.

WHY DID YOU CHOOSE YOUR WEDDING VENUE?

Shustoke Farm Barns is magical! It has all the formalities we wanted but with a real relaxed feeling. The food is amazing too!

WHAT WAS YOUR FAVOURITE MOMENT OR MEMORY OF YOUR WEDDING DAY?

Our first dance! I doubt our friends and family ever expected us to do a 2 step. Instead we choreographed a dance to Pharrells ‘Happy’. Due to our engagement in Mexico this was performed by a Mariachi Band. It took a week of dancing in the kitchen to nail the moves but it went down so well with our guests and will forever be an amazing memory!

WHAT ADVICE WOULD YOU GIVE TO NEWLY ENGAGED COUPLES?

For those who are currently planning their wedding we would suggest trying to put personal touches to your day. Try to spend a little more money on the things that will last forever such as photography and wedding rings as these are your lasting memories. On the day spend time with each other is so easy to talk to all your guests and before you know it your day is over.
